Meet the Writers: Layli Long Soldier


The Meet the Writers Series continues with poet Layli Long Soldier, whose collection “Whereas” is a finalist for the National Book Award in poetry and won this year’s National Book Critics Circle Award in poetry. Long Soldier is an Oglala Sioux writer and poet. Her chapbook, “Chromosomory” was published in 2010 by Ave Q Press, and  “WHEREAS: Poems” was published in 2017 by Graywolf Press. She won a Whiting Writers’ Award in 2016. Long Soldier lives in Tsaile, Arizona and is an English Professor at Dińe College.
